Quality Control Inspector

We are currently recruiting for a Quality Control Inspector to work based in Billericay, Essex on a full time, permanent basis.

Primary purpose:

To ensure that all products meet relevant brand quality standards, specifications and regulatory requirements as well as ensuring that defective or non-compliant items reach our stores.

 

Key responsibilities:

Act as a guardian of quality for all DCK brands working with both brand buying teams and suppliers to improve over all quality and reduce number of items failed at delivery stages -

  • Inspect goods as they are delivered into the DCK DC following agreed AQL for each brand

  • Examine products, packaging and labelling to ensure that each item is compliant with quality expectations and all legislative requirements

  • Follow agreed processes when items need to be failed, placing goods in quarantine to ensure they do not reach stores

  • Contact suppliers regarding fails, ensuring that credit notes are received where appropriate

  • Have regular contact with suppliers to drive improvement in quality through production, acting as a knowledgeable advisor on DCK expectations

  • Work with relevant buying and design teams to ensure products are feasible and compliant and that suppliers are aware of expectations prior to production

  • Analyse supplier performance and capability, escalating any concerns to the Head of Supply Chain & Governance

  • Make recommendations for quality improvements as necessary to the Head of Supply Chain & Governance

  • Stay abreast of all legislative changes that impact DCK quality expectations and requirements

  • Ensure that all DCK systems are updated and system actions are taken in a timely manner

  • Liaise with the retail team on any products that are in store, dealing with their feedback and investigating issues, ensuring these are resolved and the Brand team are kept aware of any necessary actions

 

Ad-hoc -

  • Supports new business opportunities and reviews new customer requirement suitability for business model and budget (wholesale)  

  • Supports with onboarding new suppliers, ensuring that they are clear on quality requirements and expectations prior to production commencing and deliveries being received

  • Support with knowledge sharing and upskilling of junior team members, imparting knowledge as required

 

Communication & Culture- role models efficient communication at all levels creating an inclusive and warm culture in line with the DCK DNA -

  • Establishes clear and engaging communication routines with colleagues at all levels, to encourage a culture of transparency, accessibility, regularity, and clear direction.  

  • Acts as a technical visionary and specialist who inspires innovation and instills commerciality in every decision made. Routinely reviews process and systems for innovation and commerciality.  

  • Supports the establishment of a warm and supportive culture within the team, has awareness of team environment and behaviors, and actively assists with areas of concern. Acts as a DCK role model.

  • Supports the teams to deliver consistent standards & improved performance through positive engagement. Provide guidance to the Commercial Operations team, including training and motivation of the team, optimizing productivity of individuals and collective work performance.

Job requirements

Skills and qualifications:

  • Prior QC experience in a retail setting, jewellery preferred

  • Organisation

  • Managing deadlines

  • Effective communication – written and verbal

  • Able to build strong working relationships

  • Computer literate, with ability to fully utilise the relevant IT systems, proficient across all MS office applications.
