We are pleased to have a fantastic opportunity available for a Finance Assistant to join DCK in our Billericay office.
Job Purpose
To provide accurate and timely support across the Finance function, with responsibility for Head Office expense review, freight and duty spend analysis, accruals, reconciliations and month-end accounting.
The role will initially focus on core transactional responsibilities, with the opportunity to progress into broader areas of management accounting as experience and knowledge develop, in line with the growing demands of the business.
Key Responsibilities
Head Office Expenses
· Review, code and process Head Office expenses in line with company policies.
· Ensure appropriate authorisation, supporting documentation and VAT treatment.
· Investigate discrepancies and support month-end reconciliation and reporting.
Freight & Duty Spend Analysis
· Prepare monthly analysis of freight and duty costs.
· Support month-end accruals and maintain accurate supporting schedules.
Supporting Payroll Administration
· Provide administrative and accounting support to the Payroll Specialist.
· Assist with employee absence and leaver administration.
· Ensure payroll information is accurate, timely and handled confidentially.
Reconciliations & Financial Analysis
· Assist with account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
· Support financial analysis, month-end reporting and preparation of supporting schedules.
· Provide ad hoc accounting and analysis support to the Finance team.
Progression & Development
As experience and knowledge develop, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to take on additional management accounting responsibilities across the Finance function, responding to the growing demands and requirements of the business.
Job requirements
You will have;
Skills & Experience
· Previous experience in an accounts or finance environment.
· Good understanding of basic accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping.
· Experience of working with multi-currency transactions would be an advantage.
· Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
· Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial data.
· Strong reconciliation and analytical skills.
· Ability to investigate discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution.
· Good organisational and communication skills.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with payroll and employee information.
· A proactive approach with a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities.
Qualifications
· Working towards an AAT qualification is desirable.
· Relevant accounting experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications.
· Potential for study support.
